One of our committee members, Victoria Christgau, the executive director of the CT Center for Nonviolence, is being awarded the CT Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission Community Service Award at the State Capitol (Hall of Flags) on Monday Jan. 20th from 11 am-1 pm. It would be wonderful if those of us who believe nonviolence training is important, are able to attend and show support when they receive this honor. Governor Malloy will speak and other legislators will be present. This is a chance to show our CT elected officials the importance of supporting this kind of training with young people and adults in Hartford and across the state. At our initial gathering in October, one of the possible long-range ideas was to get nonviolence education mandated in all CT public schools. This may be a step toward making that dream a reality.
